New Selectwoman Appointed In Fairfield
She was sworn into the new position last week.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Democrat Marcy Spolyar, who most recently was Moderator of the Fairfield Representative Town Meeting, was appointed last week to the Board of Selectmen, replacing Christine Vitale, who is now First Selectwoman.
Spolyar has been a member of the RTM since 2017, but she resigned from her post representing District 4 to become a Selectwoman. Her Selectwoman's term is scheduled to expire in November 2027.
"An email was immediately sent to the Town Clerk to resign her position on the RTM, and she was then sworn in as selectman by the Probate Judge," Lisa Clair, Fairfield's Communications Director, said in an email to Patch.

The three remaining District 4 RTM members — Democratic Caucus Leader Liz Zezima, Laura Karson and Michelle Lapine McCabe — will meet at 4 p.m. on Friday in a public meeting at Fairfield Woods Library to vote to fill the vacancy created by Spolyar's resignation.
Additionally, Monday's scheduled RTM meeting will include a supplemental agenda item to vote for a moderator to replace Spolyar.
