New York Man Arrested After Threatening Students at Fairfield University

James M. Macdonnell, 19, talked way into a townhouse, then threatened to kill students after being told to leave.

A belligerent 19-year-old from Old Brookeville, New York, was arrested early Sunday morning on the campus of Fairfield University after allegedly talking his way into a townhouse and eventually threatening to kill the students after they asked him to leave, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Post reports that James M. Macdonnell knocked on the door of the townhouse and told the student that answered he knew one of his roommates. After discovering that wasn’t true, the student went to confront Macdonnell and found him trying to poke holes in the kitchen wall with a knife, according to the Post.

The Post reports that Macdonnell refused to leave and threatened to return and kill the students.

The students were eventually able to get Macdonnell out and called for assistance and Macdonnell continued his belligerent behavior and at one point threatened to kill the police officer as he was being apprehended, according to the Post.

Macdonnell, who police believed was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, was arrested on charges of first-degree criminal trespass, interfering with an officer and breach of peace.
