New York Mets Draft 2 Fairfield University Baseball Players
The drafts come after a record-setting season for the Fairfield University Stags.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Two members of the Fairfield University baseball team have been drafted by the New York Mets.
Trey McLoughlin and Justin Guerrera were selected in the 16th and 20th rounds, respectively, in the 2021 MLB Draft, according to Fairfield University Athletics. The pair are the 19th and 20th Stags to be chosen in the draft, and the first to be picked by the Mets.
McLoughlin is “one of the hardest workers on the team,” according to Head Coach Bill Currier, and leads the Fairfield program with an average of 9.11 strikeouts per nine innings, the university reported.

Guerrera, who Currier said is “one of the best all-round athletes I have coached,” tied Fairfield’s program single-season record with 13 home runs in 2021, according to the university. A shortstop, Guerrera was also chosen as a First Team All-MAAC player.
The Stags had a record-setting 2021 season, with 39 wins, the university reported.
