Nick Nardone Tosses Perfect Game For Fairfield American

Having blasted through the competition with ease so far,  the Fairfield American District Two Little League All-Stars are fast becoming accustomed to success.

Fairfield American pushed its record to 4-0 with a resounding 11-0 win over Monroe on Thursday evening at Bridgeport's Blackham Field.

The team, which has scored 74 runs in the four games, clinched first place in the "Blue" group and secured a berth in the double-elimination semifinals that begin next week.

Nick Nardone was unstoppable for Fairfield American, tossing a perfect game through  four innings in a contest cut short by the mercy rule.

Meanwhile, the Fairfield American bats made it tough sledding for Monroe starter Patrick Ryan. He threw hard and with authority, but the victors jumped ahead early amid a big opening frame.

"They (Fairfield) were very strong at the plate, and their whole lineup was hitting well today," Ryan said. "Fairfield is definitely a really good team, so hopefully we can bounce back from this loss."

Monroe dropped to 3-1, but still could advance to the semifinals, as the top two finishers in each group move on to the final four. Round robin play continues through Saturday.

Tommy Ryan and Chris Howell kicked things off with base hits, helping to fuel a six-run first inning for Fairfield American, which tacked on five more runs in the third to put away the contest.

Conor Daley (two hits), Nate Klein (two runs) and Billy McGrath (triple) also left their finger prints all over the big afternoon, as Fairfield remained on a possible collision course with Fairfield National in the District Two championship game.

Fairfield National is 4-0 in the "Red" group and also has clinched a spot in the semifinals.

Fairfield American completes round robin play on Saturday against Westport National.
