No Pets Allowed For Suspect In Fairfield Animal Cruelty Case: Report

FAIRFIELD, CT — Glorianne Lagnese, the 59-year-old Fairfield woman charged this month with 48 counts of animal cruelty, is not allowed to have any pets, a judge ruled Friday, reported the Connecticut Post.

Bridgeport Superior Court Judge Maria del Pilar Gonzalez issued the ruling during Lagnese's arraignment hearing, in which the defendant also did not enter a plea in the case.

She was not joined by counsel during the hearing, and reportedly told the judge that she will hire her own attorney.

Last month, authorities seized 48 animals from Lagnese's Steep Hill Road home, where she runs a registered animal rescue called Super Paws Rescue. The home was recently condemned by the Fairfield Health Department.

The animals were found in filthy, urine and feces infested quarters in the home, which led to the charges.

According to Lagnese's arrest warrant, Fairfield police and animal control also found several feral cats living in the walls and ceilings of the home, which they could not capture due to the amount of clutter and garage in the way.
