Obituary: Allan Chomortany, 81, of Fairfield

Allan Chomortany, 81, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Evelyn Convertito Chomortany, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, December 06, 2016 in his home. Born in Brasso, Romania to the late Joseph and Helen Krobl Chomortany, Allan was raised in Budapest, Hungary and came to the United States in 1956 at the start of the Hungarian Revolution.

After arriving in the United States, Allan attended four years of college at the University of Bridgeport, earning his degree in accounting.

He was a professional jazz drummer while he lived in Hungary and was very active in the Hungarian community in Fairfield, having served as the treasurer of the Hungarian Society and was also on the Committee of Transylvania.

Allan worked as a CPA for 45 years and was a lifetime member of the American Institute of CPA's and the Connecticut Society of CPA's. Allan was very fond of music, enjoyed photography, and had a great love for travel.

In addition to his loving wife, Evelyn, Allan is survived by two sons, Philip Mirto, of Pawling, NY and Ralph Mirto, and his wife, Michelle, of Fairfield; and three adored grandchildren, Emily Lavender, of Kansas, Adrianna Mirto, of Washington, and Cadence Mirto, of Fairfield. In addition to his parents, Allan was predeceased by his daughter, Chantal Porter.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at Holy Cross Church, 750 Tahmore Drive, Fairfield, CT 06824. Interment will be held privately.
