Obituary: Andrew Michael (Corky) Kokorda, Jr., 76, of Fairfield

Corky, a U.S. Army and CT National Guard Veteran, was a wonderful son, devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Andrew Michael (Corky) Kokorda, Jr., 76, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Linda Brown Kokorda, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 13, 2016 with his loving family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on October 11, 1940, son of the late Andrew Kokorda, Sr. and Mary Ferencsak Kokorda, Corky was a Fairfield Town resident for most of his life.

He was a U.S. Army and CT National Guard Veteran. He worked as a Machine Tool Professional for the Bullard Co, AVCO Lycoming and for GE Capital until his retirement.

Mr. Kokorda was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Cross RC Church in Fairfield where he was a member of the Parish Council, past President of the Holy Name Society, & volunteered for many other parish activities.

Corky enjoyed fishing, coin collecting, football, old western movies and most of all the times that he spent with his family. A wonderful son and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will be greatly missed.

In addition to Linda, his loving wife of 52 years, he is survived by his four sons and four granddaughters: Andrew Kokorda III of Monroe, his wife Helena, and their daughters Ann and Margaret; Robert Kokorda of Trumbull, his wife Maureen, and their daughters Mary and Rebecca; Christopher Kokorda of Harwich, MA and Gregory Kokorda and his husband Michael Agren of Boxford, MA.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, November 17 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 750 Tahmore Dr., Fairfield with burial to follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield with full Military Honors. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Church.
