Obituary: Arnold P. Balas, 81, of Fairfield

He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps., and was a retired mason for the State of Connecticut.

Arnold P. Balas, 81, of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Mary Clarke Balas, entered into eternal life on December 5, 2017.

Born and raised in Bridgeport, Arnold had been a Fairfield resident for most of his life. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps., and was a retired mason for the State of Connecticut.

Arnold's memory will be lovingly remembered by his son, Mark John Balas, and his wife, Beth, of Zebulon, NC; two grandsons, John and Dylan Balas; a sister, Barbara Gydosh, of Bedforth, OH; step-sisters, Carol and Paula; brothers-in-law, Thomas Clarke, of Orange, John Clarke, of New York, and Edward Clarke, of Florida; sisters-in-law, Eileen Deere, of Stratford, Eleanor Rodi, of Stratford, Jean, Kaye Hanks, of Florida, and Patricia Auger, of Stratford. In additions to his parents, Arnold was predeceased by a son, Michael Balas.

A graveside committal service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Lawncroft Cemetery, 1740 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield, CT 06825. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Boulevard, Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489 or www.alz.org.
