Obituary: Arthur E. Reynolds Jr., 83, of Fairfield

Arthur was a gifted athlete and participated in the Senior Olympics in both softball and racquetball.

Arthur E. Reynolds Jr., 83, of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Mary B. Reynolds, passed away peacefully surrounded by his three loving daughters Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in the Bronx, and raised in Brooklyn, the son of the late Arthur and Jean Reynolds, he had been a Fairfield resident since 1968. He was a graduate of Chaminade High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from the College of the Holy Cross. Following graduation, Mr. Reynolds served in the United States Army in Germany.

His career in finance included positions as a security analyst at Van Strum, a V.P. at Channing Corp. and a financial analyst at both Merrill Lynch and AG Edward and Sons. He was a former member of the Weston Field Club and the Gaelic American Club.

Arthur was a gifted athlete and participated in the Senior Olympics in both softball and racquetball. He also enjoyed tennis, paddle tennis and playing Bridge. Arthur was a lifelong Dodgers fan dating back to his early years growing up in Brooklyn. Above all else, he delighted in spending time with his family.

Survivors include three beloved daughters, Meg Spescha and her husband Caspar of Stamford, Catherine Scholl and her husband Eric of Fairfield and Susan Reynolds of Fairfield; five cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Alexandra, Jack, Charlie and Tommy Scholl; two brothers, Francis Reynolds and his wife Gloria of Salisbury, MD and David Reynolds of Fairfield; a sister, Mary Anne Reynolds of Leland, NC; a sister-in-law, Beverly Reynolds of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Paul Reynolds. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
