Obituary: Barbara A. Danylko, 87

The following obituary of Barbara A. Danylko (nee Farr), 87, is from Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home:

Barbara A. Danylko (nee Farr), age 87, passed away due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease on Friday, March 24, 2023 at the Jewish Home. Barbara, the only daughter of the late William and Jennie Farr, was born on May 29, 1935 and was a lifelong resident of Westport and Fairfield. She graduated from Staples High School in 1953 and took a position at the Westport Bank & Trust. With time spent in between raising her two children, she subsequently became the office manager for Dr. Melvin Coolidge.

Barbara loved the outdoors in summertime and was an avid gardener, planting perennial flowers and plants, as well as frequenting the local beaches along the Connecticut shoreline. She spent much time with family and friends celebrating holidays and birthdays and was always willing to host an impromptu dinner and share her love of Italian cuisine. A pet lover, Barbara passed her fondness for dogs onto her children and welcomed all pets into her home. Raised Roman Catholic, Barbara regularly attended Mass and contributed to her parish.

Survivors include two children, Kathleen O’Shea of Fairfield, Bill Danylko and his wife, Suzanne of Fairfield; four grandchildren, Kate Salko, Jackson Danylko and twins, Nicholas and Sydney Danylko.

Friends may greet her family on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church with interment thereafter in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
