Obituary: Barbara (Rowbo) Seymour, Esq., 59, of Fairfield
Barbara excelled as a student at Notre Dame-Manhattan, where she was imbued with the belief that empowered women can transform the world.

Barbara (Rowbo) Seymour, Esq., 59, of Fairfield, the loving wife of Jeffrey C. Seymour, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2018 with her family by her side. She was born in Queens, NY to the late Robert and Bernadette Rowbo. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters Catherine Ye Seymour and Elizabeth Hope Seymour; her sisters Carol Rowbo and Lorraine Rowbo; brothers Dennis, John and Paul Rowbo and nine nieces and nephews.
Barbara attended the Notre Dame School of Manhattan, where she excelled as a student and was imbued with the belief that empowered women can transform the world. She was selected for an accelerated program at City College that resulted in her completing her undergraduate and law school education in six years. She received her J.D., cum laude, from New York Law School in May 1983. She passed the New York bar and began work at D’Amato & Lynch in New York City in the fall of 1983. She would remain with that firm, working in the areas of insurance and corporate law, until August 2016 when she joined the New York office of the California firm Manning and Kass. She worked at Manning and Kass until she fell ill in February 2017.

Barbara was a member of the Board of Trustees of her alma mater, The Notre Dame School of Manhattan, where she served as chair of the board for 19 years. She also served on the board of the Trinity Parish Nursery School in Southport.
She was an avid gardener and an excellent cook. She was devoted to her monthly book group, which she joined over 20 years ago.

She was a loving and caring wife and mother, and she was especially devoted to her daughters, Beth and Cate. She was proud that they became strong, smart, independent and beautiful women, just like her.
Friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield. A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Southport. Donations may be made in her memory to Notre Dame School of Manhattan, 327 W. 13th Street, NY., NY 10014.
