Beverly Ann Silvestro, 79, of Fairfield, beloved wife of Richard A. Silvestro, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018. Beverly was an active parishioner of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bridgeport with her family for many years. There she was married, baptized her children, and was a member of the ECW, Altar Guild, Choir, and was a Sunday school teacher. She chaired many events and activities at St. John’s.
Beverly had many interests and hobbies. She was an avid beachgoer. It was a daily summer event to go to the beach, where she packed a lunch and jug of Kool-Aid, slathered her kids, then later her grandkids, up with sunscreen. Beverly will greatly miss her beach friends, some of whom span over three generations. She was also an avid bowler for over 50 years and will be greatly missed by her teammates.

Beverly’s home was her pride and joy, but she took especial pride in her yard and gardens. For countless hours in the spring and summer she could be found planting flowers, especially impatiens, weeding and crafting her garden to perfection. If she wasn’t at the beach, this is where you would find Beverly.
Beverly and Richard loved to travel the world together. They started with a borrowed tent, and then graduated to their own pop-up to take their kids all over the East Coast and to explore Canada. There was no greater love they bestowed on their kids and grandkids than to take them to Disney World or the Caribbean Islands. To experience the world through their eyes brought joy to their hearts. In their later years, Beverly and Richard took their adventures on cruise ships that encompassed nearly the whole world travelling to places such as Australia, New Zealand, China, Europe, Hawaii, Polynesia, Central and South America.

The Christmas season was a time when Beverly would be in her glory. Practically Mrs. Claus herself, she had the whole holiday down to even the smallest detail. Every gift was carefully wrapped with bows and custom-crafted trinkets, each one unique. Every Christmas Eve she found it hard to sleep, kept awake by the anticipation of seeing the surprise in her children’s and grandchildren’s faces when opening gifts Christmas day.
In addition to her loving husband Richard, survivors include her children Susan Pelletier and her husband Doug, Richard A. Silvestro, Jr., and Jill Collimore and her husband Paul; six cherished grandchildren Brittany and Daniel Myers, Jamie, Jordan, and Madison Collimore, and Geoffrey James; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a dear friend Barbara, one of her closest friends for over 50 years, and joins another cherished friend in heaven, Kay, who was her best friend since high school.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Vitas Hospice Healthcare, 488 Main Avenue, 3rd floor, Norwalk, CT 06851. The family expresses sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and technicians and staff at Bridgeport Hospital and Vitas for the quality care provided and compassion shown to Beverly during this time.
