Obituary: Charles J. Greenwald, 93, of Fairfield
Charles served with the 66th Panther Division of the U.S. Army during World War II in France and Germany and was awarded two Purple Hearts.

Charles J. Greenwald, 93, of Fairfield, beloved husband of 73 years to Barbara Priest Greenwald, died on Monday, October 31, 2016. Born in Bridgeport, Charles was the son to the late Charles J. and Elizabeth Ellis Greenwald.
Charles attended Fairfield schools and served with the 66th Panther Division of the United States Army in France and Germany in World War II, during which time he was awarded two Purple Hearts. Prior to entering the Army, Charles worked at Bullard Co. and Bassick Co. until his retirement. He also served for a number of years with the Fairfield Special Police and was a member of the American Legion Post 143 and St. Emery's Senior Group.

In addition to his loving wife, Barbara, Charles is survived by a son, Charles Greenwald, and his wife, Carol, of Murphy, NC; a daughter, Barbara Jean Legutki, and her husband, Robert, of Naples, FL; grandsons, Jeff and Todd; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Greenwald, of Fairfield. He was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Rudy Faircloth, of Bradenton, FL.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Emery's Church, 838 Kings Highway East, Fairfield.
