Obituary: Claire (McCarthy) Viens, 52; Fairfield Native

Claire (McCarthy) Viens, 52, died Thursday, December 28, 2017, at her home in Easton surrounded by her family. She was born March 10, 1965, in Bridgeport CT, the daughter of James and Joanita Hoehn McCarthy.
Claire grew up in Fairfield, CT with a large, loving family, surrounded by dear friends and attended Andrew Warde High School. She became a young mother and devoted her life to raising, nurturing, loving and supporting her two sons. In March 2001, she began working at Billy's Bakery in Fairfield where her humor and magnetic personality quickly turned coworkers into profound relationships with loving friends.

Claire's heart was further filled with love when she married her husband Charles in October of 2007. She became his "angel" and together they created a warm home for all of their children. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to music, cooking, gardening, trips to the beach, and a nice glass of wine.
She is survived by her husband Charles Viens of Easton; two children, Patrick McCarthy of Nashville, TN and Dennis DePalmer of Stamford; granddaughter Madison Barker of Easton; her mother Joanita Hoehn McCarthy of Fairfield; father, James McCarthy of Monroe, CT; brothers Mark McCarthy (Deena) of Jersey City, NJ and Tim McCarthy (Paula) of Hampton, NH; and sisters, Maryhelen McCarthy and Catherine McCarthy of Fairfield; and nephews Jake, Kenny, and Alex.

She was preceded in passing by her brother Daniel McCarthy.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford, CT.
Reverend David Rowe will officiate a prayers service at 2:15 p.m. in the funeral home.
A continued celebration of Claire’s life will follow from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church Hall, 1045 Old Academy Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824.
