Obituary: Cornelius ‘Neil’ F. Lovelady, 72, of Fairfield

Cornelius “Neil” F. Lovelady, 72, of Fairfield, the beloved partner for over 22 years of Marilyn Eggers, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 8, 2018. He was born in Halifax, England to the late Cornelius C. and Elizabeth Lovelady and grew up in Oxford, MS.

Neil received his BA degree in physical education from the University of Mississippi, where he was a member of the golf team and won NCAA Individual Champion honors in 1967-1968. He followed his passion for golf winning Pro-Am tournaments and serving as Assistant Golf Pro at the Country Club of Darien for over 30 years.

Neil had a genuinely warm personality that everyone loved to be around. He was a true southern gentleman and a friend to all.

He is survived by his loving partner, Marilyn Eggers of Fairfield and her children, Kristina (Nicholas) Montini of Fairfield and Jason (Carla) Eggers of Goodyear, AZ. He will also be missed by many close relatives, friends, colleagues and fellow golfers.

In celebration of Neil's life, friends are invited to greet his family for a loving farewell on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield. Neil will then be returning to his beloved Mississippi home for eternal rest in Oxford Memorial Cemetery.
