Derek J. Hann, 56, of Fairfield and Monroe, died on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Providence, R.I., son of David and Delores (DeCristofaro) Hann, he was the loving husband of Kara (McGuire) Hann.

Derek put his wife and family before all else, had a passion for entertaining, and loved to travel. He was known for his charismatic stories and contagious expressions, planning spectacular trips, and a bright smile that would light up any room.

As a leader, Derek’s remarkable career was dedicated to helping people learn and grow. He served as Chief Learning, Talent, and People Officer working across industries and organizations including PayPal, Fidelity, Citi Group, Heineken, GE, ALCOA, Pitney Bowes and most recently, Deloitte. He also served as an advisor at PeopleTech Partners and has served on The Conference Board Leadership Development Council, the American Management Association National Training Council, and the Corporate Executive Board’s Learning and Development Roundtable. Those that worked with him, he will be remembered as a mentor, team builder, and for his generosity and service.

In addition to his wife Kara, he is survived by their children Eric David Hann and his fiancée Jenna Kuhn and Brendan McGuire Hann and his fiancée Christina Connelly, as well as his brothers David and Douglas and sister Danette Hann.

Derek will be deeply missed and remembered by all for his grace, strength, humor, and intellect.

His family will receive friends on Sunday, March 17 from 4-6PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. His Funeral Mass will be held at 10AM on Monday, March 18 at St. Philip Church, 1 Father Conlon Place, Norwalk, with entombment to follow at St. John Cemetery.
