Dr. Bird was also a longtime ham radio operator and an avid fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers. After retirement, he discovered that he could bake desserts like no other and enjoyed sharing them with willing taste testers across Fairfield. He loved spending time at Duchess and Ruby Tuesdays and knowing the staff on a first name basis.
Religion was a vital and important part of Dr. Bird’s life; he was a daily communicant, Eucharistic minister, and an active member of St. Pius X church in Fairfield. Most of all Dr. Bird was a wonderful, kind, and generous person who always tried to make others happy.
