The following obituary is from Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home:
Edward Thomas Hapgood Jr. (Tim) of Fairfield, CT, passed away peacefully at his home on October 21, 2023 among his family and friends. He was well known for his character, impeccable manners, honesty, and family-first prioritization. Tim was born in Boston, MA on June 21, 1940, to parents Ruth Sweetser Hapgood and Edward Thomas Hapgood Sr. Tim spent his formative years in Lynchburg VA, played collegiate football at The University of Virginia, and always considered himself a Virginian.
He began his career with Pan American World Airways in San Francisco, CA, and continued his work with the airline in Sydney, Australia; Jakarta, Indonesia; Tokyo, Japan and finally in New York City. In an effort to be home more frequently, Tim left Pan Am and launched a corporate travel agency in Darien, CT where he raised his family. This career change enabled Tim to pursue his passion for coaching his sons and other young football players, inspiring their love for the game and understanding the importance of teamwork and accountability.
