Obituary: Elizabeth (Beth) Headley Paul, 75, of Fairfield
Beth was a Reference Librarian for over 35 years, including at Sacred Heart University, Fairfield University & the Fairfield Public Library.

Elizabeth (Beth) Headley Paul, 75, of Fairfield, Connecticut, passed away in the early morning of August 23, 2017, surrounded by her husband and two sons. Beth was born on August 15, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Gordon Headley and Ruth White Headley.
On May 28, 1966, she was married to Richard S. Paul and they celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2016. Beth will be forever missed by her husband, brother Thomas Headley and sister Mary Sur, sons Christopher Paul and Matthew Paul, daughters-in-law Stephanie Paul and Christina Paul, grandsons Charles, Thomas, James, William, Sawyer, Cooper and Henry; as well as many loved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends throughout North America.

Beth graduated in 1960 from high school in Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Gettysburg College in 1964, earning Phi Beta Kappa; received in 1969 a Masters Degree in Germanic languages from the University of Pennsylvania; and in 1979 received a Masters Degree in Library Science from SUNY Geneseo, New York. She served as an analyst for the National Security Agency and taught German languages for two years at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. Beth was a Reference Librarian for more than 35 years, including at Sacred Heart University, Fairfield University, the Fairfield Public Library, and the Westport Public Library. While still in high school, Beth emerged as an accomplished organist. During her life, she played the organ and directed choirs at churches in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Connecticut.
Throughout her life, Beth lived a Christian life, was positive, and saw the best in everyone she met. As a result, she was loved by many people. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 30, 2017, in the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, 1045 Old Academy Road, Fairfield, Connecticut. Internment will be private. The family asks that any memorials to the life of Beth be made to Operation Hope, 636 Old Post Road, Fairfield, Connecticut 06824, or any other charity chosen by the giver.
