Obituary: Florence Lily Bailey, 90, Of Fairfield

The following obituary of Fairfield resident Florence Lily Bailey, 90, is from Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home:

Florence Lily Bailey, 90 of Fairfield, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 23, 2023. Born in Bridgeport to the late Fred and Ellen Potts, Florence graduated from Laurelton Hall and obtained her nursing degree from St. Vincent’s Medical Center. She then was employed as an RN at that same hospital prior to her retirement.

Florence enjoyed playing tennis and golf, was an avid reader and enjoyed shopping and dining out. She volunteered her time at Mercy Learning Center and with Hospice. Florence was also a member of St. Vincent’s Women’s Auxiliary.

Florence is survived by her four devoted sons, Louis Bailey, III of Oxford, Thomas Bailey and his wife, Renee of North Branford, James Bailey of Shelton and John Bailey and his wife, Jennifer of Trumbull; her loving daughter, Ellen Gianola of West Haven; and her six beloved grandchildren, Duane, Adam and Morgan Lan Bailey and Christin, Jessica and Michael Gianola. She was predeceased by her son, Gregory Bailey, her grandson Michael Gianola and her former husband, Louis Bailey, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, February 27, at St. Pius X Church in Fairfield. Interment followed in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
