Obituary: Fran Stone, 81, Of Fairfield
The loving wife of former state Rep. John (Jack) Stone Jr., Fran was a strong, independent woman who loved her family and her career.

Fran Stone, 81, of Fairfield, the loving wife of former state Rep. John (Jack) Stone Jr. for over 42 years, passed away suddenly in St. Vincent’s Medical Center on March 30, 2022, with her family by her side. Born in Tarrytown, New York, to the late Francis and Mabel Donaldson, she was a graduate of Marymount Prep School and received a bachelor's degree in math and economics from Marymount Manhattan College and a master’s degree in psychology from Bridgeport University. Prior to her retirement, she was a consultant for over 30 years in technical training and development.
Fran was a strong, independent woman who loved her family and her career. She was a lover of traveling, the arts, particularly classical music. She also enjoyed exploring museums and viewing the works of art. Among her other activities, she served as the chair of the Board of Trustees at Southport Congregational Church.

Fran was always interested in all life had to offer, continually learning and educating others.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two children, Steven (Shirley) Kelly and Diana Kelly, and four stepchildren, Bill (Denise) Stone, Bob (Sue) Stone, Cathy (Eric) Redard and Jeff (Laura) Stone; three cherished grandchildren, Michael (Felicia), Christopher and Kathryne, and seven step-grandchildren, Matt (Scarlett), Amanda, Billy, Stephanie, Anna, Abi and Logan; and, her brother, Arthur (Nancy) Donaldson. Fran was predeceased by her brother, George Donaldson.

Friends are invited to greet her family 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield, followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Swim Across the Sound, Philanthropy Dept., 2800 Main St., Bridgeport, CT 06606.
