Frank could never say no to any community sponsorship. He supported the Mercurio’s baseball team for many years and became a softball coach. He enjoyed bowling in a league, playing poker, camping, boating and clamming. He loved attending Mets games where he had season tickets; his get-a-ways to Atlantic City and his trips to Aruba. Frank also enjoyed in his spare time his grandchildren whom they called “Gramps.” His number one priority in life was to make sure everyone else was taken care of ahead of his own needs.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two devoted children, Frank R. Mercurio Jr. of Stratford and Melissa Mercurio-Cortes and her husband, Efren of Fairfield; and, his four grandchildren, Frank R. Mercurio III, Domenic Mercurio, Anastasia Cortes and Paloma Cortes. He was predeceased by his brother, Domenic Mercurio and his two sisters, Joy Mastroberardino and Camey Zazuri.
