The following obituary of Fairfield resident Geraldine Palutis Guerra, 80, is from Spear-Miller Funeral Home:

Geraldine Palutis Guerra, age 80, of Fairfield passed away on Wednesday February 22, 2023. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Joseph and Frances Palutis, she was a Fairfield resident for 36 years. She attended Stratford High School and received her Masters in Special Education and Psychological Testing from Southern Connecticut State University. She spent much of her career as a software engineer for IBM and later worked as a special education teacher at Saint Catherine Academy.

Geri had a love of sports and played tennis, golf, volleyball, and was a ski instructor at Okemo Mountain in Vermont for many years. She will be lovingly missed by her daughter Nina Hennessy (Brian); her grandchildren Scarlett and Grant Hennessy; her brothers Joseph Palutis (Kim) and Vincent Palutis (Trudy); her sister Carol Cody (Carmen Luciano); her best friend Elaine Clark; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Carlos Guerra, and her grandson Cole Benjamin.

Services were held on February 27 at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Cliffs at Eagle Rock Angel Fund, 707 Eagle Rock Ave., West Orange, NJ 07052.
