Obituary: Holly Boston Routhier, 51, of Fairfield

She loved volunteering at many of her children's activities and cherished her role as a mother and wife.

Holly Boston Routhier, 51, of Fairfield, loving wife, mother, daughter and sister, passed away tragically Monday, August 14, 2017 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Norwalk, Holly had been a Fairfield resident for almost all of her life. She was a 1984 graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University in 1988.

Holly enjoyed being a colorist for Ametex Fabrics from 1988 to 2002. In 2002, she joined Richloom Fabrics where she achieved the position of Senior Studio Director.

Holly made every family gathering fun and delicious with her amazing cooking and baking, being known for her creative birthday cakes and other unique dishes. Her ability to plan the perfect party will be greatly missed by all. Holly was the fixer; her family relied on her creativity and resourcefulness. Her unselfish manner helped find solutions that many overlooked. She loved volunteering at many of her children’s activities and cherished her role as a mother and wife. She was a well-known cheerleader on the sidelines for all her children's sports endeavors.

Holly was also a lifelong member of First Church Congregational, Fairfield. She will be dearly missed by her beloved husband of 25 years, Robert F. Routhier of Fairfield and their four children whom she adored, Jacob Boston, Samuel William, Elliot Joseph and Olivia Morganne; her devoted mother, Barbara B. Boston of Fairfield; three loving sisters, Heather Boston Garbacik and her family of South Hadley, MA, Sarah Boston Barker and her family of Arlington, MA and Rebecca Boston Dowd and her family of Fairfield; Sister in Law Paula Routhier of Phoenix, AZ and Mother in Law Jeanette Plumb of Phoenix, AZ. She was predeceased by her father James W. Boston and her Father in Law, Paul J. Routhier of Winter Haven, Fla.

Holly was a shining light and the world was made a better place with her in it. A memorial service celebrating Holly’s life will be held Monday, August 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, Fairfield with the Rev. David Spollett officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Holly’s memory may be made to NAMI Connecticut, 576 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT 06105 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
