Obituary: Irene Alice Nagy, 76, of Fairfield

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and relished her role as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Irene Alice Nagy, 76, of Fairfield, beloved wife of 31 years of the late Ronald C. Nagy, Sr., passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 in Bridgeport surrounded by her loving family. Born in Eynon, PA the daughter of the late Donald and Alice Shnipes, she had been a Fairfield resident for more than 60 years.

Mrs. Nagy was employed by Fairfield University for many years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and relished her role as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She always looked forward to attending her grandchildren’s events and was so very proud of all their accomplishments.

She will be sadly missed by her three devoted sons, Ronald C. Nagy, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Fairfield, Robert Nagy and his wife Robin of Fairfield and Russell Nagy and his wife Amy of Fairfield; her four cherished grandchildren, Thomas, Michael, Brett and Elizabeth Nagy; a sister, Carol Deer and her husband Lawrence of Georgia; two brothers, Jerome Shnipes and his wife Bonnie of Charleston, SC and Donald Shnipes and his wife Noreen of Shelton; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 29, 2016 meeting directly at St. Ann’s Church, 481 Brewster Street, Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, November 28th from 4-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
