Obituary: James Timothy Broadbin, 69, of Fairfield

James was known by his childhood friends as 'Timmy' and to his class as 'Mr. B.' He was a devoted coach, father, and husband.

James Timothy Broadbin, 69, entered into eternity on January 2, 2017. James was known by his childhood friends as “Timmy,” and to his class as “Mr. B.” James worked in the Stratford Public School System as a teacher's aide during the day, and at night he worked as a security guard at General Electric (GE) in Bridgeport, where he worked for 33 years.

In his free time, James enjoyed smoking his English Charatan pipes, playing chess and studying history, such as the Titanic and the biography of Abraham Lincoln. He loved to take monthly trips to Foxwoods in his retirement years, and enjoyed watching football religiously, especially following his favorite team - the New York Jets. James was a devoted coach, father, and husband.

James was married to his lovely wife Patty for 30 years until she passed away in 2008. He is survived by his devoted sons, Ryan and Jimmy; his sister, Nancy Moore; and his cousin and childhood friend, Kevin Kelly.

Friends may greet his family on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield Center. For the wake, please wear a football jersey/ hoodie because James was such a big football fan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery.
