She was a longtime Paralegal for various law firms in Fairfield and previously owned the Pickle Barrel Deli in Stratford with her husband.

Joanne M. Instone, 81, of Fairfield, the loving wife of the late William E. Instone for over 49 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 24, 2018. Born in Ossining, NY to the late Edward and Elizabeth Mery, Joanne was a graduate of Wilmington High School in Delaware.
She was a longtime Paralegal for various law firms in Fairfield. Prior to her becoming a Paralegal, Joanne and Bill were owners of the Pickle Barrel Deli in Stratford.

Joanne was a people person who was very good natured and had the gift to gab. She was an avid bowler with the Nutmeg Lanes; enjoyed day trips to the casino and traveled with Bill throughout the United States. She was a devoted Philadelphia Phillies fan and a New England Patriots fan. She loved country music, especially Eddie Arnold.
Joanne is survived by her loving children, Cheryl Tucker of Derby, Patricia Shaw of Enfield, Edward C. Tucker and his wife, Linda of Las Vegas, NV and William, Christopher and Brian Instone of FL and her brother and his wife, Adrian and Joyce Mery of Wilmington, DE. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Jones, Tracey Palazzo, Kimberly Shultz, Nicole Oczkowski, Richard Fagan, Suzan Kalloz, Courtney Volza, Jessica Kintzel and Christina Hartman; and twelve great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen J. McFarland.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 12 noon at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield Center. Friends may greet her family from 10:00-11:45 a.m. prior to the service.
