Obituary: John J. Foran, 84, of Southport

Jack worked in the corporate sector for many years; in the latter part of his career, he was a realtor in Fairfield County.

John J. Foran, 84, of Southport, the beloved husband for over 57 years of Eileen Donoghue Foran, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 28, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born in the Bronx to the late Thomas and Celia Foran and was a longtime area resident.

Jack attended Cardinal Hayes High School where he was an accomplished basketball player. He continued playing basketball at St. John’s University and ultimately graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a degree in Finance. Jack worked in the corporate sector for many years; in the latter part of his career, he was a realtor in Fairfield County.

Jack was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and the Gaelic American Club. An avid New York Giant fan, he was a season ticket holder for nearly 50 years. His happiest times were those spent with his family, especially his nine adoring grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his loving children, Ellen Fusco and her husband, John of Southport, Jeannine Foran and her husband, Bill Ingram of Fairfield, John Foran and his wife, Lainie of Fairfield, and Tom Foran and his wife, Jane Kim of Westport. He will also be missed by his cherished grandchildren, Rose, Christopher, Sean, Mary, Henri, Clare, Leigh, Paige and Carti. He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Mitchell.

Over the years, Jack developed a truly special relationship with Eileen’s siblings, Dan, John and Clare as well as their spouses and children. He treasured the many happy times he shared with them.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jack’s name to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
