Obituary: John Patrick McArdle, 93

John Patrick McArdle, age 93, of Bonita Springs, Florida, formerly of Southport, beloved husband of nearly 60 years of the late Dolores Marie McArdle, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 14, 2021, in his home. Born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Henry and Margaret (Healy) McArdle, he lived for many years in Port Jefferson Station, New York, prior to moving to Fairfield in 1994. He recently moved to Florida to be near his children. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-56, then enjoyed a long and rewarding career as an electrician for the Long Island Railroad. John enjoyed his frequent trips to the casinos and delighted in time spent with his family. Survivors include four beloved children, Brian P. McArdle and his wife, Laurie, of Naples, Florida, Donna M. Ahern of Bonita Springs, Florida, Kevin J. McArdle and his wife, Donna, of Northport, New York, and Karen A. Piazza of Naples, Florida; 14 adoring grandchildren, Kayla, Brian, Kelly, Michael, David, Riane, Meghan, J.P., Sean, Lauren, Isabelle, Joseph, Diona and John; four cherished great-grandchildren, Amber, Macie, Sloane, and William; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Joe, Henry, Tommy, Ann, Margie, Phillip, and James; as well as his son-in-law and husband of Donna Ahern, David Ahern. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 22, 2021, meeting directly at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Interment with military honors will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
