Obituary: John Victor Turk Jr., 86, of Fairfield

The founder of Turk Insurance Agency, John was committed to serving his clients for more than 40 years before his retirement.

John Victor Turk Jr., 86, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Gertrude "Sharon" Turk, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family.

In addition to his devoted wife Sharon, John's memory will be embraced by his children, Sharon Ferrante and her husband Vincent, of Easton, Jonathan Turk and his wife Kathleen, of Trumbull, Victoria Garfield, of Fairfield; his cherished grandchildren, Alexander Ferrante, Corinne Turk, Ryan Turk, Jack Garfield, and Elizabeth Garfield; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Grace Lasczak and John V. Turk, Sr.

A lifelong resident of Fairfield, John graduated from the University of Bridgeport. He proudly served in the First Calvary Division of the United States Army during the Korean War. The founder of Turk Insurance Agency, John was committed to serving his clients for over 40 years before his retirement. Community minded, he was a devout Catholic and longtime member of Saint Pius X Church, and above all, a loving, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He was a member of the Fairfield Elks Club and Mill River Country Club. He enjoyed golf and was an avid card player as well as a Ping Pong champion while in the military. He touched numerous people throughout his fruitful life and will be remembered with great fondness.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM in Saint Pius X Church 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Interment with Military Honor will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery.
