Obituary: Joseph D. Christiano, 85, of Fairfield

Joe, who was the owner of Russell Chevrolet in Fairfield for more than 40 years, had a personality larger than life.

Joseph D. Christiano, 85, of Fairfield, the loving husband of Adrienne Christiano for over 36 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 19, 2017. Born in the Bronx to the late Mario and Florence Christiano, Joe was a longtime Greenwich and Fairfield resident. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner of Russell Chevrolet in Fairfield for over 40 years.

Joe had a personality larger than life. He was passionate about his business and his family. Adrienne was the love of his life and they spent time together with their friends both in Fairfield and in Florida. He was also the patriarch of the neighborhood and enjoyed many get-togethers with his friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Joseph L. Christiano of South Carolina and Gregory Arroyo and his wife, Sue Duffy Arroyo of Bristol, PA; two daughters, Linda Machorro and her husband, Rafael of La Grange, NY and Miranda Delfino of Trumbull; five cherished grandchildren, Joey, Nicholas, Adriana, Matthew, and Sofia; his sister and her spouse, Anne and Leonard Lapinski of Voorsheesville, NY and countless number of friends. He was predeceased by his son, Richard F. Christiano.

Friends are invited to greet his family on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Greenwich.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Lung Cancer Research Team at the Yale Cancer Center, c/o Julie Parr, Director of Development, P.O. Box 7611, New Haven, CT 06519-0611.
