Obituary: Joseph Giacomazzi, 99, of Fairfield
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theater where he received the Purple Heart & the Philippine Liberation Medal.

Joseph Giacomazzi, 99, of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Evelyn Giacomazzi, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019 in Arizona. Born in Fairfield, the son of the late Pasquale and Margherita Giacomazzi, he had been a lifelong resident prior to his recent move to Arizona. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theater where he received the Purple Heart and the Philippine Liberation Medal.
Joseph was a long-time member of the American Legion Post 143 in Fairfield. He was a retired electrician and a member of the IBEW Electrical Union. An active parishioner for many years of St. Pius X Church, Joe was always willing to help around the church either volunteering at events or performing electrical work.

Survivors include his three beloved daughters, Gail Langan of Milford, Joan Palmer of Tucson, AZ and Judy Gianni of Oro Valley, AZ; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Laura Burdo, and a brother, Frank Giacomazzi. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Interment will be private in Lawncroft Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may consider a donation in Joe’s memory to: The Ahrens Program, Milford Senior Center, 9 Jepson Dr., Milford, CT 06460.
