Obituary: Joyce M. Lucas, 78, of Fairfield

Joyce (Markland) Lucas, 78, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, June 12, 2018. Born July 5, 1939 in Bridgeport, Joyce was the daughter of the late Ethel Coyle Markland and Roy Lee Markland.

Joyce’s greatest love was her family. She leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Alex Lucas of Fairfield; her two children, Lorraine Ryan (Dan Ryan) and Ronald Lucas and his wife Bina. Joyce has five grandchildren, Lauren Nordt and her husband Jeff, Gregory, Julia, Michael and A.J.; and her first great-granddaughter, Charlotte Grace Nordt.

She leaves behind her sister, Marsha George, and her husband Albert as well as her brother James Markland and his wife Sheila and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joyce worked as a School Secretary at Stratfield Elementary in Fairfield. She loved to play the organ for family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
