Obituary: Kathryn 'Nancy' Rooney, 93

Kathryn “Nancy” Rooney, age 93, of Niantic and formerly of Fairfield, died peacefully at home on Thursday, August 17, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was a resident of Fairfield for 64 years and a resident of Niantic for 27 years.

Nancy was a health official for the town of Fairfield for 32 years prior to her retirement. She also held posts as the Director of the Fairfield Credit Union for 14 years and as President of the Fairfield Town Union for 22 years.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Fallon; her grandchildren, Conor & Victoria Fallon; and her niece, Colleen Stowe. Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Francis A. Rooney and her sister, Phyllis Hoffman. Her family extends a special thank you to her loyal caregivers, Traci Dube & Rose Marie Nunez.

Friends may greet her family on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Shaughnessy Bank Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 149 S. Pine Creek Road in Fairfield.
