Obituary: Laurie Cacciola Zingo, 75, Of Fairfield

Laurie Cacciola Zingo, 75, of Fairfield, the beloved mother of Christopher and Randy Zingo, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Danbury Hospital on Thursday, July 29, 2021. She was born in Bridgeport on Oct. 22, 1945.

Laurie graduated from the University of Bridgeport, where she received a bachelor’s, a master’s and a sixth-year degree. She dedicated her career to high school education, teaching mathematics at Harding High School for 25 years. She also authored a book titled "Mathematics Made Simple," and served as an academic counselor at St. Vincent’s College of Nursing. Laurie will always be remembered as an outstanding and brilliant educator, but she is better known for her selfless dedication to her two sons, who were her world.

Laurie is survived by her sons; her four beautiful grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Sarah, Thomas and JJ; her sister and best friend, Patricia (Al) Svelnys and many nieces and nephews. Laurie had a lasting impact on many lives and she will be sorely missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Road in Fairfield. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery.
