Obituary: Margaret (Howard) Fitzpatrick, 99, of Fairfield
Margaret, who worked at Fairfield University, was the last surviving member of a group of women referred to as "The Club."

Margaret (Howard) Fitzpatrick, 99, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Thomas A. Fitzpatrick, passed away peacefully Monday, July 31, 2017 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport, one of 6 children to the late John and Anna Howard, she had been a lifelong Fairfield resident.
Mrs. Fitzpatrick graduated from Bassick High School and the Butler Business School. She retired from the Admissions Office at Fairfield University, and was a long-time parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. She was the last surviving member of a group of women referred to as “The Club.”

Margaret will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who delighted in time spent with her large and extended family. She will be sadly missed by her five loving children, Teresa (Terry) Gentile and her husband, Eugene of Fairfield, Nancy Maffucci and her husband, David of Isle of Palms, SC, Mary Loh and her husband Michael of Shelton, Thomas Fitzpatrick and his wife Peg of Fairfield and Robert Fitzpatrick of Voorhees, NJ; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Howard of Fairfield; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, John, Joseph, Lawrence and Thomas Howard and a sister, Anna Howard.
The Fitzpatrick family wishes to thank Margaret’s devoted caregiver for the last 4 years, Arnette Ellis for the loving and compassionate care provided to their mother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Family and friends may call Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Operation Hope, 636 Old Post Road, Fairfield, CT 06824.
