Obituary: Marianne Vasta Santolupo, 83, of Fairfield

Marianne Vasta Santolupo, beloved wife of John Paul Santolupo, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2019.

Born on December 29, 1935 in Forest Park, Illinois, Marianne was the daughter of Salvatore and Mary Cello Vasta. She married John on May 7, 1955 and soon after relocated to Fairfield, where she has since resided.

Marianne graduated from Siena High School in Chicago and earned her Associate Degree from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield in 1984. Marianne worked throughout high school honing her shorthand and administrative skills. After graduation, she went on to work her first full-time job with the FBI. She then utilized her talents working as the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of Fairfield Schools for nearly 20 years. Later, Marianne was employed by various professionals, from medical to interior design, and eventually ran a word processing business from her home. Marianne also enjoyed volunteering her services at many non-profit organizations.

Marianne was an active member of Our Lady of Assumption Church and then Holy Cross Church in Fairfield. She had a strong love for reading and was the family go-to grammar guru. She was an avid bridge player, excelled at Jeopardy, and looked forward to completing the NY Times crossword puzzle every Sunday. She was also a huge NY Yankees fan. Above all, Marianne relished time spent with family, often over her delicious home-made Italian meals and signature desserts.

She will be missed by her three children, Michael Santolupo (Karen) of Bristol, RI, Jill Hooper (Michael) of Fairfield, CT, and James Santolupo of Newport, RI and five grandchildren, Anthony, Emma, and Thomas (Lauren) Santolupo and Emily and Jane Hooper. She is also survived by her sisters Lucille Shultz of Naperville, Ill. and Patricia Vasta, IHM of Monroe, MI, and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her siblings Anthony Vasta, Frances Vasta Dee, and Arthur Vasta.

The family appreciates the wonderful care the Jewish Senior Services staff has provided during the last two and a half years.
