Mark was a longtime member of the Miamogue Yacht Club in Bridgeport and was an avid boater, hunter, and especially fisherman. Early morning fishing trips on his boat, Impulse, with his dad and friends were one of Mark’s favorite ways to spend a Sunday. He also loved vacationing on Long Beach Island every summer with his closest family and friends.
Mark treasured every moment he spent with his family and friends — especially cooking at home with them and hosting his favorite day of the year, Christmas Day.
His loyal black Labrador, Odin, and his friendly cat, Jack, were always by his side.
Mark was an avid sports fan, cherishing the time he spent cheering on his son, Michael, during his baseball games. He also treasured spending time with his son, Jason, riding ATVs. Mark’s favorite teams were the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.
Mark loved music, and most of all making people laugh. He was known by those closest to him for his quick wit and dry sense of humor, often quoting lines from '70s TV shows and cartoons at just the right moment.
In addition to his parents, Bob and Jo-Ann, he leaves behind his wife and best friend, Maryann, and sons, Jason and Michael; his sister, Lisa Shomsky (David Shomsky); and his brother, Robert Brezosky (Maurice Neuhaus). He also leaves behind nieces, Kristie and Carly Shomsky (his God-daughter) and Stephanie Argianas, as well as his brother-in-law and “walking buddy,” Gary Argianas; and nephew, Garett Argianas.
The family takes solace in knowing Mark was able to donate his organs to help others in need.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021, at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton. There were no prior calling hours.
