Obituary: Martha Ann Freedman, 49

Martha Ann Freedman, age 49, of Orange, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, at Bridgeport Hospital.

Martha was born in New Haven, the daughter of Judith Freedman and the late Judge Samuel Freedman. Martha was very personable and enjoyed being with her housemates in her group home. She participated in running races in the Special Olympics and assisted her mother in her successful campaigns for the Connecticut State Senate. She enjoyed swimming, was a fan of the UConn women's basketball team, and loved her mother's cats, Bobbie and Petie.

She is survived by her loving mother, Judith Freedman, devoted aunt, Elizabeth Stuckal, and uncle Joseph Greenberg. She is also survived by her cousins, Jonathan, Samuel Scott, David and Leah Stuckal, Ellen Phillips, Susie, Jane and Peter Bernstein.

A graveside service with a live stream broadcast took place on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at B’nai Israel Cemetery, 183 Kings Highway East, Fairfield. Shiva was observed at the Freedman residence in Fairfield immediately following services and on Thursday.
