Obituary: Martha B. Timko Enright, 79, of Fairfield

She overcame the limitations associated with childhood polio and was a cancer survivor. She was beloved by family and friends.

Martha B. Timko Enright, 79, of Fairfield, the widow of Robert M. Enright, passed away on November 7, 2018 in Cambridge Manor Health Center, Fairfield. Martha was born in Bridgeport on December 1, 1938 to the late Stephen and Martha (Zentkovich) Timko and has been a lifelong area resident.

She overcame the limitations associated with childhood polio. She was a cancer survivor. Those who knew her knew she was one awesome woman! She was retired from the U.S. Government, as a Contract Price Analyst. Martha was a lifelong member of the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, and the Port 5 Naval Veterans Auxiliary both in Bridgeport. Martha was beloved by family and friends whom she made it a point to connect with as often as possible.

Survivors include several nieces: Linda (Scott) Gring, Dawn (Andrew) Welch, Joanne Timko Fraser, Kim (Peter Capozzi) Timko York, Karen (nee Timko) Fuller, Christine Hirshberg and nephews; Robert Hayhurst, David (Jennifer) Hayhurst, Michael Friis and Jody Friis. Great-nieces include Heather & Aryn Gring, Meghan Hayhurst, Hayley & Kristina Hayhurst, Natasha Goebel, Nicole Lyford, Jamie Cowan, Tiffani Oberle, Sydney Hirshberg, Olivia Hirshberg, Ashley Garboski. Great-nephews include David Hayhurst, Matthew, Michael Welch, and Paul Sheets. In addition to her parents, Martha was pre-deceased by her brother, Stephen Timko and stepfather, John Hrasch.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10 a.m. in the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist Mill Hill Avenue Bridgeport for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4 - 7 p.m. Panachida (a liturgical solemn service for the repose of the departed in the Eastern Orthodox Church) at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make a donation in memory of Martha to Swim Across the Sound 2800 Main St Bridgeport, CT 06606.
