Obituary: Mary Ecsedy, 95, of Fairfield
She worked in the advertising department at the Bridgeport (Connecticut) Post for many years.

Mary Ecsedy, 95, of Fairfield, passed away on November 18, 2016. She was born on August 1, 1921 to Joseph and Frances (Zak) Tichy. She was the widow of Frank R. Ecsedy to whom she was married for 59 years. She was a resident of Sawyer Road, Fairfield for the past 66 years.
Mary was the outstanding student in her junior high class (a tradition continued by daughter Francine and granddaughter Rhiannon!). Mary graduated from Shelton High School, class of 1939. She worked in the advertising department at the Bridgeport (Connecticut) Post for many years under Raymond Flicker and John Pfriem. Mary was also renowned for growing blueberries and tomatoes in her garden.

She is survived by her son David and his wife Claire of Needham, MA; her son-in-law Thomas Cunningham; her four beloved grandchildren Emily Cunningham, Allison Serfass, Rhiannon Bradshaw, and Tobias Ecsedy; two great-grandchildren; her sister Frances Turecek; and her brothers Joseph Tichy and Vincent Tichy. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her daughter Francine and her brothers Emil and Jerry.
Calling hours will be held from 9:00-10:30 a.m. on Saturday November 26, 2016 in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on November 26, 2016 at Holy Family Church, Old Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Burial will follow in Lawncroft Cemetry.
