Mary Ellen Peterson, 78, of Fairfield passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on the morning of March 3, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald Peterson. Mary Ellen was born in Bridgeport on January 12, 1946 to the late Andrew and Mary Irene Kachmar.

While raising a young family Mary Ellen was a devoted homemaker, as her children grew she rejoined the workforce as a customer service representative. She often could be found in her garden or sitting by the lake feeding the fish. Her greatest joy came from being with her family.

Mary Ellen is the mother of Carol, Jeffrey (Andrea), and Keith (Jessica). She relished in the role of being Grammy to Anna, Samuel, River, Ian, and Suzie. She also leaves her brother Edward and his wife Cynthia as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 9 at 10 AM at Holy Cross Church, 750 Tahmore Drive, Fairfield, with interment following in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
