Obituary: Nicholas Alfred Host, 69

The following obituary of Nicholas Alfred Host, 69, is from Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home:

Nicholas Alfred Host, age 69, passed away from surgery complications on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. He was attended by his children, Jessica Tallman and Gerald Host in his final days.

Nick was born on November 16, 1952 in Stamford, to Jerry and Lois “Sally” (Selleck) Host. He lived a good portion of his life on Fairfield Beach where he built many friendships that lasted a lifetime. Nick graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School in 1970, then moved to Lake Tahoe where he worked on ski slopes. He cherished those years all of his life.

Later, Nick attended culinary school at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI and had a first career as a chef in numerous restaurants. He also had a second career as a painter and owned a small business for many years.

Nick’s health declined after a few bad accidents and he spent his final years living in Southport near his children.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Tallman, his son Gerald Host and his sister, Karen (Host) Lutz. The family gives thanks to friends who visited him in his final years and will be having private services at a later date.
