Provided by friends of Peter Lang:
Peter Lang was a friend to everyone he met. He was a fixture in Westport, Connecticut, for most of his life at Westport Pizzeria, as a landscaper, photographer and abstract painter. He was an avid hobbyist, a strong chess player at the Fairfield Chess Club, at tournaments and later on online chess clubs. He rekindled his interest in coin collecting in the last 12 or so years, buying many attractive numismatic coins.
It's hard to sum up people like Peter, they are vital members of towns they live and work in. The last few years were painful for friends such as myself to watch as alcoholism and a decline in overall health hit Peter hard, but he maintained a cheerful attitude even in the nursing homes and hospitals where he was attended to and treated.

Diane, who Peter met at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, truly devoted her energy and her all in helping Peter in countless ways. Her sacrifices are hard to comprehend they were so unremitting and vital in helping Peter. The Roman Catholic Church where she took Peter ministered to his spiritual needs. Great thanks and appreciation are due for all the workers too who ministered to Peter in his declining health.
