Obituary: Petra Patrick, 61, Of Fairfield

The following obituary of Fairfield resident Petra Patrick, 61, was written by family member Kaitlyn Walsh:

Petra Patrick, age 61 of Fairfield, CT passed away suddenly on Monday, January 2, 2023 surrounded by her husband, mother, and son. Born in Stuttgart, Germany on March 25, 1961, she was the beloved daughter of Christel Pluchino, and together with John Pluchino they emigrated to the United States on September 3, 1963 when Petra was two years old. She lived in Bridgeport, Trumbull, and Fairfield, where she kept a beautiful home for over 30 years.

She started her career as a candy striper at Park City hospital at the age of 14, followed by a career as an Admitting Registrar until the hospital later closed, at which time she was hired at Bridgeport Hospital. Her final position was in the special Ortho Unit at Hartford Healthcare (St. Vincent's Medical Center), and she recently celebrated her 20th Anniversary with the hospital.

Petra is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, George Patrick, her son Jonathan Patrick and his wife Kaitlyn Patrick, her mother, Christel Pluchino and her partner Gino Capozziello Sr., who was like a father to her. She is also survived by her loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews in Germany and the US.

Petra loved her family and friends fully and deeply and was passionately loyal. She had a beautiful smile, a wonderful sense of humor, quick wit, and a laugh that would light up an entire room. She loved decorating her home for the seasons and holidays, especially Halloween, and hosted memorable Halloween parties every year. Most of all, she loved her annual vacations to the Jersey Shore, where she would spend time at the beach with her family and close friends.
