Obituary: Robert 'Bobby' Smith, 94, Of Fairfield

Bob was a Corporal in the U.S. Army and served proudly in the Korean War.

Robert “Bobby” Smith, 94 of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 after a long and fulfilling life. He was born in Bridgeport to the late James and Elsie Smith and was a lifelong resident. Bob was a Corporal in the U.S. Army and served proudly in the Korean War. He was an auto mechanic and worked at the family garage on Black Rock Turnpike, a family business he eventually took over.

Bob was a lifelong parishioner of St. Pius X Church and would often be seen riding his bike to Sunday Mass. In addition, he was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus. To know Bobby was to love him. He was a generous man and his family and friends have many fond memories of him hosting Christmas parties and other events to bring his loved ones together.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his 6 brothers, Alfred, Charles, Henry, James, Joseph and William Smith; and his sister, Emily Beaudin. He is survived by many adoring nieces, nephews and extended relatives.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Dr. in Fairfield. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport which will be livestreamed at: https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/8893461416.
