Obituary: Robert C. Call, 79, of Fairfield

Robert, who owned Western Auto in Westport for nearly 20 years, also worked at Home Depot and as handyman and custodian at Fairfield Prep.

Robert C. Call, 79, of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Gladys A. Call, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Norwalk Hospital. Born in Norwalk and raised in Westport, the son of the late Lloyd and Laura Call, he had been a Fairfield resident for the last 50 years.

A graduate of Staples High School, Mr. Call owned Western Auto in Westport for nearly 20 years. Robert also worked for many years for Home Depot in Fairfield as well as handyman and custodian at Fairfield Prep. He loved to work on various projects such as building cars and boats. He also enjoyed the challenge of repairing anything in need. Bob was also a NASCAR enthusiast.

Survivors include two beloved children, Christy Call-Sanger and her husband Jeff of Highlands Ranch, CO and Michael Call and his fiancé Elizabeth Mayer of Denver, CO; two cherished grandchildren, McKensie and Jack Sanger; two sisters, Carolyn Lee and her husband John of Florida and Barbara MacIlvain and her husband Terry of Tennessee; nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, Nov. 30 from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
