Obituary: Robert E. Cherney Sr., 83, of Fairfield
Bob's proudest accomplishment was his family. Throughout 60 years of marriage, he never missed an opportunity to kiss his wife goodnight.

Robert E. Cherney Sr., 83, of Fairfield, the beloved husband of Gloria Cherney, passed away peacefully in the early morning of October 24th at St. Vincent's Hospital, in the arms of his loved ones.
Bob was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 15, 1933, to Michael and Marion Cherney.

An esteemed business man, he began his career at The Associates, ultimately founding Cherney Pontiac in Ansonia in 1970. Following his retirement, Bob earned a realtor’s licensed and worked for the Higgins Group for several years.
Though the dealership thrived for 32 years and he continued to work after retirement, everyone that knew Bob can attest that his proudest accomplishment was his family. Throughout 60 years of marriage, he never missed an opportunity to kiss his wife goodnight.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Bobby and Laura and their spouses, Marshann and Brian; and his beloved grandchildren, Nicole, Danielle, Gabrielle, and Sam. He will also be missed by his sisters, Ruth and Joan and brother-in-law, John Hauser,
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. directly at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Fairfield. Interment will be private.
