The following obituary of Fairfield resident Robert J. Rotanz, 90, is from Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home:

Robert J. Rotanz, age 90, of Fairfield CT and formerly of Watchung, NJ and the beloved
husband of Catherine Rotanz, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2022 after a wonderful, full
life. Bob was born in New York City to the late Henry and Helen Purcell Rotanz and was a U.S.
Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean War.

Bob was born in New York City on May 7, 1932. He attended Bishop Loughlin Memorial High
School and graduated from what was then Pace Institute. He met the love of his life, Catherine,
and married her at Blessed Sacrament Church in Jackson Heights, Queens.

Bob was the founder and president of Rotanz Associates, marketing consultants to the health
care industry. Prior to that he worked at Johnson & Johnson, managing the development of
significant medical products, including the first disposable surgical gown and mask, the patent of
which was named after him. He was a charismatic speaker, and a mentor to many, helping to
instill confidence and a keen business acumen to a circle of family and friends.

Bob enjoyed musical performance, community theater and he authored memorable parodies
which were produced locally. He was a devout sports fan and had season tickets to the New York
Giants for more than fifty years, having received them as a gift from his wife for their first
wedding anniversary. One of his favorite pastimes was watching his grandchildren compete on
the baseball diamond, in the swimming pool and on the lacrosse field.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Catherine, his three children, Robert Rotanz and his wife
Margaret of Westport, CT, Mary Rotanz Thornton and her husband John of Southport, CT and
Jennifer Rotanz Strikowsky and her husband Bruce of Glen Ridge, NJ. He will also be missed by
his grandchildren, Robert, Brendan, Blaney, Jack, Katherine, Olivia and Samuel, as well as his
three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Helen Rotanz; his
brother Richard; his sister Elizabeth Creen.

He will be forever missed and always in our hearts.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua
