Obituary: Robert R. Gambino, 80, of Fairfield

A hard-working, strong man with a big heart, Bob was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Robert R. Gambino, 80, of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Loxie Bennett Gambino, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, April 25, 2017.

Born and raised in Bridgeport to the late Joseph and Belva Gambino, Bob was a resident of Fairfield for most of his life. A retired oil truck driver for Chevron, Bob took great pleasure in deer hunting, saltwater fishing, as well as, lobstering and claming while boating on Long Island Sound. A hard working, strong man with a big heart, Bob was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Bob's memory will be cherished by his children, Deborah O'Brien, and her husband, William, of Fairfield, Joseph Gambino, and his companion, Ana Caballer, and her daughter, Shania Martinez, of Waterbury; his precious granddaughters, Sydney and Jacquelyn O'Brien; four siblings, Domenic Gambino, of Pennsylvania, Arthur Gambino, of Fairfield, Linda Dirzius, of Southbury and Michelle Previs; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. In addition to his loving wife of 58 years, Loxie, Bob was predeceased by his son Robert N. Gambino and four brothers, Joseph, John, Michael, and Albert Gambino.
